White Bachelorette Party Dresses That Are Frickin’ Affordable

I’ve spent hours online scrolling to find the perfect white dress.  First for my engagement photos (mission unsuccessful – I eventually went with a blue dress) and now for my upcoming bachelorette party in June.  Today, I’ve pulled three of my favorite white bachelorette party dresses from my closet to share with you.  In my opinion, each of these 3 styles have very different vibes.  So depending on the location, seasonality, etc. of your bachelorette party, one dress may fit the bill better than the other two.  However, all 3 dresses share one thing in common: they are affordable and they’re fashionable enough you’ll want to wear them!

At the end of this post, I’ll reveal how much I spent on each dress and how much you’d have to spend to purchase look-alike substitutes.

Plus, I’ll be seeking your input.  Which white bachelorette party dress would you choose to wear to your own bachelorette party?

Before we dive in, I want to discuss why you might consider purchasing a white bachelorette party dress.

Why Wear White: A History of This Wedding Tradition

Everyone knows the color white is the traditional wedding color for the bride to wear on her wedding day.  According to Almanac, white was thought to symbolize purity and was also thought to ward off evil spirits.  However, the traditional white garb worn by brides wasn’t always a thing.  The white dress only became popular in the mid 1800s, largely thanks to the woman you see pictured on the right.  You may know her by the name Queen Victoria.

Before Queen Victoria, European and American brides would often choose colorful dresses, such as blue or yellow, or more practical options like black, brown, or gray.  And because of the limited laundering techniques available at the time, wearing a white dress epitomized wealth and luxury.  Soon, others were following her lead and the tradition of the white dress was born (Wikipedia).

Interesting enough, Mary, Queen of Scots wore a white wedding dress in 1559, almost 300 years before Queen Victoria.  However, the tradition of wearing a white wedding dress is commonly credited to Queen Victoria, since she was the one to popularize it among the mainstream (Wikipedia).

Wearing White Bachelorette Party Dresses in the 21st Century

Although wearing white doesn’t necessarily symbolize a bride’s wealth or chastity in today’s day and age, the tradition of wearing white has largely prevailed in mainstream media.  Of course, wearing a color other than white is becoming more common and hues of ivory and blush have also emerged popular options in the wedding dress industry.  In spite of all this, wearing a white bachelorette party dress helps allude to the notion of an upcoming wedding.

Personally, I love the idea that white portrays regality and influence.  That’s enough to convince me that I want to wear a white dress for my bachelorette party.  If you’re in my camp and you’re looking for a cute, but affordable, white bachelorette party dress, check out these great options I pulled straight from my closet:

1. Southern Sweetheart

This is a perfect little sun dress for parading around town or grabbing brunch with the girls.  The lace cap sleeve detailing on the straps provides some visual interest to an otherwise simple, classic silhouette.  It’s also light and airy, so it’s ideal for those long, hot summer days.  Pair it with a sunhat for an effortlessly chic bachelorette party look!

2. Glam Girl In the City

You’re sure to get noticed in this dress!  It’s a bodycon style dress, but does have a good bit of stretch.  However, if you’re in between sizes, I’d recommend sizing up because it is more fitted.  Here’s a few reasons why I love it as a bachelorette party dress: 1) It’s super flattering in the troublesome tummy area; 2) although, hard to see it in the picture, the dress is lined with a white polka dot mesh fabric, providing for a demure look; and 3)  the asymmetrical detail of the straps provide visual appeal.  If you want to celebrate your bachelorette party looking glamorous, this dress is a must!

3. Beachy Boho Babe

Headed to the beach for your bachelorette party?  Check out this beautiful maxi dress with a lace overlay and tie belt.  Not only does it provide great cover from the summer sun, it also kicks up nicely when the wind blows.  If you’re looking for a maxi dress that’s comfortable and sure to make you stand out among the girls, this dress is it!

So, of these three white bachelorette party dresses, which would you pick?
